Traminer aromatico
White wine with a straw yellow and, at times, intense colour that develops golden nuances over time. Intensely aromatic with a bouquet redolent of vanilla, linden flowers, almond and ripe fruit. A wine of strong character which in Friuli yields quite high alcohol contents, while retaining a reasonable degree of acidity.
May be served alongside elaborate warm or cold hors d’oeuvres, fish dishes in sauce and strongly flavoured cheeses. It is, however, the perfect accompaniment for all dishes containing smoked ingredients, from trout to cured meats and even ricotta. In the Friulian mountains in particular, smoked ricotta is the traditional garnish for many pasta and gnocchi first courses.
Serve at 10-12° C in glasses with tulip rim.
