The Regional Federation of Consortiums
The Regional Federation of Consortiums for the Protection of Controlled Denominations of Origin (FederDoc), was established in Friuli Venezia Giulia on November 15th, 2002. This is a Second Grade Consortium that gathers the nine consortiums for Protection (Annia, Aquileia, Carso, Collio, Colli Orientali, Grave, Isonzo, Latisana and Ramandolo) that already work in favour of the territory (‘il Vigneto chiamato Friuli’ – A Vineyard called Friuli) towards a common goal to provide a single voice to promote the wines of the Friuli region.
FederDoc therefore does not replace these consortiums, and rather acts to help them develop and strengthen as a regional system for the industry. Its goals are, therefore, to share objectives, strategies and tools, while maintaining and guaranteeing the individuality of each participant. As a Federation, it represents over 2250 producers (75% of DOC production in the region).
To represent the wines of the Friuli region, the federation uses measures such as promoting, developing, supporting and publicising the product and the territory to a wide spectrum of counterparts, both institutional and otherwise. The federation aims to develop an open dialogue with these players, in keeping with a modern strategy for the development, the protection and the maximisation of the image of the wine producing industry in Friuli Venezia Giulia. This also means being actively involved, as decreed by the New Manifesto for Friulian Wine, the federation’s constitutional document and mission statement, with all those who cherish the future of the “Vigneto chiamato Friuli”, the Vineyard called Friuli, in Italy, in Europe and around the world.
This entails a dedicated commitment to sharing the benefits of our own entrepreneurial experience in this ever more competitive global market, motivated by the widely acclaimed superior quality of Friulian wines and their prestige and cultural worth, nurtured through a respect and love of our land, through daily hard work and through an identity expressed in our hospitality.
